Alzheimer's Disease Support Group

Support group meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month
at the Northwest Kansas Area Health Education Center, 217 E.
32nd, and is open to friends and family of people with Alzheimer's
Disease.
American Business Women's Association

Purpose: To bring together women of diverse backgrounds for networking,
furthering education and career advancement and friendship. The
Fort Hays charter chapter is part of the national American Business
Women's Association scholarship organization. The group meets

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ellis County

Aids children who need the friendship of a special adult in their
lives, a big brother or big sister. Little brothers and sisters
are 5 to 17, and come from all social, financial and ethnic backgrounds.
Big brothers and sisters are all volunteers, each interviewed
and carefully screened to determine suitability. There is not
charge to the volunteer, the child or the child's family.

Members of the Order of the Eastern Star are directly related
to members of the Masonic Fraternity. Purpose: To promulgate
the principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. The group
meets the second and fourth Thursdays, at 8 p.m. at the Masonic
Temple, 11th and Main.
Ellis County 4-H

4-H is open to all boys and girls ages 7 to 18 as of Jan. 1 of
the current year with 32 project areas to choose from. Ellis
County currently has 13 4-H clubs.
Families are encouraged to be part of 4-H, offering something
for every member.
Our mission in 4-H is to provide educational opportunities for
youth and adults to work in partnership as they develop life
skills to become healthy, self directing members of society.
We focus on these life skills: a positive self-concept, an inquiring
mind, a concern for the community, healthy interpersonal relationships
and sound decision making.

Ellis County Community Partnership
Ellis County Community Partnership is local people joining together
in a common effort to build a healthy and safe community reducing
the risks of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs while promoting
healthy attitudes and behaviors in Ellis County. The partnership
holds monthly meetings at Trinity Lutheran Church the second
Wednesday of every month from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided
for $3. There are several subcommittees of ECCP designed for
particular interests, including advisory board, alternative activities,
opportunities for kids, family education, communications, tobacco,
ATOD policies, mentoring and the ACT youth group. For more information,

Purpose: To promote awareness of environmental issues affecting
Ellis county and western Kansas through education, research and
community involvement.

The society is a non-profit organization established to collect,
store, display and preserve items that illustrate the history
of Ellis County in particular and the state of Kansas in general
as they played their role in the history of the emerging nation;
to locate, adequately mark and preserve historical sites in Ellis
County; and to act as a vehicle that binds the people of Ellis
County in a spirit of unity as they share the responsibility
of preserving the historical evidence of the region.
Members meet in January and June, but they may volunteer their
services at the museum at any time during the year.

Family and Community Education

Purpose: Learning, leadership and friendship. Most units are
involved in educational programs related to home and family,
community service projects and leadership development. FCE members
pay dues and share responsibilities with other units in their
county. Each unit sets its own goals and objectives. The units
usually meet monthly.

to pass onto future generations, and designed for anyone interested
in genealogy, (family history).

Girl Scouts
The group seeks adult volunteers and troop leaders. Many positions
are available and require only occasional help. The group meets
the second Tuesday of the month at the Girl Scout Service Center,
