Enrollment procedures for Ellis County schools

Hays USD 489 schools
(information provided by the district office)
The Hays public school system serves some 3,400 students in Ellis County.
New pupils in the district should make contact with the school they will attend as soon as possible to make necessary arrangements for enrollment.
All pupils enrolling in kindergarten must present a copy of their birth certificate and immunization records at enrollment time. Completed kindergarten enrollments must include a health assessment.
Pupils enrolling in Kansas schools for the first time must present certificates of physical examination and immunization records signed by their physicians or the county health department. Forms may be obtained from a district principal.
Students living 2.5 miles or more from school are eligible for transportation by bus or mileage reimbursement. If eligible, applications for transportation reimbursement may be made by stopping at Sixth and Oak or by calling (785) 623-2560.
The district food service program includes both breakfast and lunch programs. USD 489 provides free and reduced-price meals for children with approved applications on file with their school principal. Application forms will be available at enrollment time.
The district offers a number of courses for adults. Call Hays High School at (785) 623-2600 for information about offerings, schedules and enrollment. The Learning Center offers adults the opportunity to earn a high school diploma. Call (785) 623-2400 for information about the program.
An extensive special education program serves children with special needs.

Thomas More Prep-Marian High School

Thomas More Prep-Marian High School is a private, Catholic, co-educational college preparatory school of about 300 Catholic and non-Catholic students.
Because TMP-Marian is a private school and is not supported by tax money, parents of students attending the school must assume the financial responsibility for the education and-or boarding services rendered by the school. Need-based financial assistance is available. Families must sign an enrollment contract, which is binding for a student's expense for the entire semester.
An open admissions policy exists for all day students. Day students who apply to TMP-Marian must complete an application form provided by the school and have their academic records forwarded from their previous school.
Transfer students who apply for admission to the TMP-Marian senior class must have a complete official record of their academic transcripts at the school before Aug. 1 of their senior year. Senior transfer students whose records arrive later than Aug. 1 will be admitted to the senior class only after their official records have arrived and they have worked out a graduation plan with a school counselor.
Residency programs for students who live outside the Hays area are available.

Holy Family Elementary School
Enrollment for Holy Family Elementary School, 1800 Milner, is Aug. 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the school's Little Theater. For more information call (785) 625-3131. Holy Family principal is Dolores McKibben. It is supported by the three Catholic parishes of Hays.

High Plains Christian School

Preschools
- Hays Head Start
Offers classes free to children who are 3 and 4 on or before Aug. 31. Students are predominantly from low-income families and may be high risk. A full -day, full-year welfare-to-work program is available for those who meet the guidelines. For more information call 623-2430.
- Early Head Start
Offers classes free for pre-birth to 3 year olds. Students are predominantly from low-income families and may be high risk. For more information, call 623-2440.
- Wee Friends Preschool
The state licensed preschool offers classes for four and five-year-olds, or one year before they begin kindergarten. Classes are from August through May, and several class times are available. For more information, call 625-1700.
- Young at Heart Enrichment Center
The state licensed preschool offers classes for children three through six. All day care is available in addition to the morning preschool classes. For more information, call 625-2300.

Ellis USD 388 schools
For enrollment information, contact the Ellis USD 388 district office at (785) 726-3151. The district office is located at 1706 S. Monroe, Ellis. The superintendent is Lyndell Barton.

Victoria USD 432 schools

Fort Hays State University

The registration process occurs when classes are entered on the university data base system. Registration usually occurs in the academic advisor's office during an advisor/advisee conference. The advisor registers the student's courses on-line and gives the student a printed copy of the registration prior to the student leaving the advisor's office.
Registration for summer term and fall semester classes is conducted after spring semester mid-term for continuing students. Registration for spring semester classes will be conducted after fall semester mid-term for continuing students. Registered students complete enrollment according to the announced enrollment schedule for a semester. Dates for on-campus registration are announced through the official university newspaper, the University Leader, and information contained in the appropriate term class schedule.
First-time freshmen and new transfer students may register for summer term and fall semester classes on established dates. Students are informed of registration dates after acceptance of admission. Registered students complete final enrollment according to the announced enrollment schedule for a semester. To register for spring classes, appointments need to be made in advance by contacting the Office of Admissions.
Enrollment (payment of fees) finalizes the registration process. Enrollment is not official until fee payment or an officially approved fee deferment is processed through Student Fiscal Services. The university's official enrollment process is express enrollment by mail. Other available methods are phone, fax and mail via the Virtual College Course Offerings booklet;late enrollment; classroom enrollment; and for summer only, mail via forms available in the applicable summer term class schedule.

North Central Kansas Technical College

Admittance to NCKTC is on a space-available basis. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age. For employment purposes, students should be 18 years of age upon completion of the program.
Admission is accomplished by completion of an Application for Admission form with a $50 application fee, providing the school registrar with either a high school transcript(s) or G.E.D. transcript and all official college transcripts.
Each student must attend "final" registration. At this time, each student will finalize financial aid (if applicable), finalize course enrollment, pay tuition and fees and submit a Declaration of Intent Form for Associate of Applied Science Degree (if applicable).

Hays Academy of Hair Design
This private school at 119 W. 10th in Hays offers cosmetology classes, nail technology classes and salon services to the general public.
